Flying Sites

The most difficult part of model aviation is not the airplane model itself, nor the time and money spent on it, but finding a safe place to fly.

Yesterday we went to check out a flying site. Today we did it again.
This is where we originally flew (22°31'52.6"N 113°59'59.3"E):

Clearly, this is not a very good place to fly, as it has the headquarters of the Shenzhen Metro, two big roads, the railroad, the police department, and the headquarters of a company that does not want us to fly there, all next to it. The only reason we are flying there is that it is the only place in Shenzhen with no trees and relatively little infrastructure, and that a friend told me that they used to fly there.

A couple of weeks ago we decided that it was not good enough and looked for another site. We found this one (22°40'50.7"N 113°54'07.2"E):
So that means that it is too dangerous to fly there.

So we went looking for a better site. This is where we went yesterday (23°09'16.9"N 114°16'31.1"E):

This is a professional flying site with a runway. There still are some buildings and roads next to it, but it is much less dangerous than the previous one. This one, however, requires a 200 RMB membership and is a 1 and a half hour drive from where I live.

And we found another one (22°39'04.6"N 114°29'43.2"E):

This one is the site of a lot of construction, but there are a couple of open grounds that have not yet started construction, and they are perfect flying sites. There is only one major highway and the ocean next to it, and some buildings spread out within the whole thing, which makes it safer than the previous sites. The wind is big though, because of its proximity to the ocean (it is also because of recent typhoon weather).
